Bereavement Support

There are a number of local support groups for people who are bereaved.

West Australian Young Widow Support Group

This group is for anyone who identifies with being a young widow or widower who is living in West Australia and has experienced the death of a partner.

The purpose of this support group is to provide a safe space where widowed people can connect in an online group and support each other through the challenges of grief.

Face to face peer support catch-ups are also organised that group members have the opportunity to attend. The group themes are of kindness, understanding and compassion which combined can bring a sense of strength to group members. In addition to intense grief, there are many new life challenges that widowhood brings. The group connection can assist widowed people by reducing the feelings of isolation in grief by connecting with other widowed peers. This can make such a difference to the widowhood journey. The group offers a respectful, empathetic and supportive space where thoughts and experiences can be shared without the fear of judgement.
