Compassionate Cafe | Caring & Dying Series | Cafe #1
Cafe #1 Dying Well – Local options and supports | Saturday, June 20 | Dalyellup
Join us for engaging ‘kitchen table’ conversations focused on learning more about what options are available locally when it comes to caregiving and death to help inform Advance Care Planning. We will explore Dying at Home, Palliative Care, Voluntary Assisted Dying along with practical and social support.
We are delighted that Dr Sue Chapman will guide the afternoon as our MC. Sue brings over 25 years of experience in healthcare across the South West and is deeply committed to creating spaces where people come together to talk about the things we don’t always find easy to discuss.
Our table conversations will be supported by a wonderful group of local contributors:
- Dr Julieanne Hilbers co-founder of the South West Compassionate Communities Network (SWCCN), with lived experience of home-based death care
- Michelle Elson is the acting Chair of SWCCN, with lived experience of supporting her husband’s living wake
- Alice Morison is a nurse who leads the WA Voluntary Assisted Dying Care Navigator program
- Dr Sally Banfield & Jodie Butler (Social Worker) are clinicians with the WA Country Health Service Palliative Care Service
- Tasha Kernohan has spent her career working in community services and social impact roles
Together we care deeply about ensuring people have access to information around their end-of-life options so they are able to make informed decisions on what feels right for them.
Tea, coffee & bikkies provided.
