COMPASSION. We respond with humanity and kindness to each person’s pain, distress, anxiety or need. We search for the things we can do, however small, to give comfort and relieve suffering. We find time for those we serve and work alongside. We do not wait to be asked, because we care. (National Health Service, 2010)
In August the City of Bunbury launched the Compassionate Bunbury Charter which recognises we all play a role in supporting each other when it comes to illness, death and grief. During the development of the Charter we spoke to people from across the community who shared many examples of compassionate acts being undertaken by individuals, groups and organisations across Bunbury. This led to a Toolkit of actions being developed to accompany the Charter.
In recognition that Bunbury is a Compassionate Community the Mayor is inviting people to share their experiences and publicly acknowledge what individuals, groups and organisations are doing to grow compassion across our community.
